Colorado WaterWise Person of the Year

Anyone in water conservation knows of the legendary Liz Gardener. Liz has always led the pack when it comes to water conservation. Because of her forward thinking and passion for Colorado, the Colorado WaterWise organization was formed in 2000. Liz’s achievements were recognized at the Colorado WaterWise annual event on September 24th as the first recipient of the Colorado WaterWise Person of the Year Award. This award will be given annually in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the water conservation field, excellent work ethics, job performance, and a distinguished record of dedication, cooperation, and professionalism as a wise steward of Colorado water. There was no question or discussion as to who should receive this first award. Liz has served as a leader and mentor for many in the field and continues to be a resource to us all.

  Alice Darilek Award

Laurie D’Audney was selected as this year’s recipient of theAlice Darilek Award. The Alice Darilek Award recognizes outstanding contributors to the water conservation field within the Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association (RMSAWWA). Named in honor of Alice Darilek, whose dedicated work in New Mexico helped water conservation efforts throughout the region, the award is given annually to a professional for exceptional performance and commitment to water conservation in the region. The awards committee selected Laurie by a unanimous vote because of her long and exemplary service to RMSAWWA and its conservation committee, and her dedication and leadership in the field of water conservation in the Rocky Mountain region.
